Nelson - Sauvignon-Blanc 750ml
The Vineyard: The Nelson Sauvignon Blanc vines are grown in an extremely stony area, where water and nutrient levels are low. This helps to restrict the plants vigour and to crop at low levels. To further enhance the aromatics leaves were removed to allow light penetration and air movement around the fruiting zone. Situated 15 km from the coast and sheltered from the south by the Richmond ranges, the “soil” is a combination of rocks and boulders, which is very hard on the farm equipment, but vital for holding the warmth of Nelson’s sun and for ripening.

Viticulturist’s Notes: Located on the high slopes of Waipara, small tight bunches of intensely flavoured fruit are produced. Leaf removal is done by hand. The fruit is handpicked at optimum ripeness when the tanned skins, lignified seeds and spicy, rich flavour are at their peak.
Winemakers Note: The regional characters are typified by the calcareous clay, sandstone and Limestone soils on several blocks. Hand-picked and fermented separately to be blended once lees ageing is complete. Rich fruit and balanced acidity run through the core of the wine.
